Fedora Rant
Pff I switched to fedora 10 a month ago because Ubuntu didn't have eclipse 3.4 in it's repository but I'm starting to have second thoughts.
1. It's freaking damn difficult to make a damn share. At least the first time.
How do you do it in ubuntu you say ? Right click and select share and click a nice check that allows guest accounts to check your share.
How do you do it in fedora ? Well you install samba. That's ok. You then have to configure samba a bit to add some shares and stuff. That's ok. Then you have to figure out that the firewall is blocking the smb port, normally I wouldn't have any problems with on a server but this should not happen on the desktop.
2. Printing
Why the heck does Fedora ask me to enter the smb address of my network printer and can't it detect it like Ubuntu / OpenSuse / Mandriva ?
3. Packagekit
Yum comes to the rescue. The add/remove interface for package is cute but the search functionality is retarded. You basically need to know the package name.

I personally love Fedora, as a RHCE I navigate just fine - I see no issues with iptables / creating and managing shares. IMHO Yum package managment is WONDERFUL! If you think it is arcane, look into up2date or Portage! Hell you could be running Slackware, BSD or any other Unix variant , no package management at all!
Let me recommend a nice firewall tool for you to use; this is in regards to your smb port issue.
system-config-firewall

#2 I think i was miss

I think i was miss understood.
1. Yum is great it beats package kit. package kit's gui is the one that has those problems
2. I know about system-config-firewall. It's not like i didn't use fedora or cent os before (for servers @ work, @home etc). It's just that it's strange that you have to configure that especially because it doesn't notify you to do it. A nice pop-ul would have been nice with "Do you want to let samba (windows shares) trough your firewall ? Yes / No"
#3 I think you are missing the point of Fedora...

Fedora is NOT meant to be a desktop...
It is a testbed for RHEL.
Why is ubunu easier? BECAUSE IT'S MEANT TO BE A DESKTOP!!!!!

#4 I tend to disagree that

I tend to disagree that Fedora isn't meant to be a Desktop solution.
In other areas is fairs pretty well, it's just that there are some rough edges that shouldn't be there in the first place because other people demonstrated that you can make it easier.
I don't think that anyone from the Fedora camp wants it's distro to be hard to use because ultimately it's the same thing they use everyday.
